25th of January was the day to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Japanese meetup group, originally conceived by Hasumi. I first stumble upon it after joining meetup.com and wanted to improve on my Japanese. Learnt it for 2 decades without ever improving, I blame myself for it. I used to attend every Saturday for a couple of months until
a change of heart had other lessons on weekends. About 50 odd people turned up, some whom I had never even seen! It was fun mingling and I was the “unauthorised photographer”. The interior was mad love. POP CULTURE! Have I told you this is one of the best buffet ever?? It’s like seriously! What caterer is this?? IT’S SO GOOD!!!
Trying to be artistic….. …..and playing around with light settings Hehe, a rather cute expression she’s making The lovely Hasumi, the organiser of our big community. Here she is talking about the establishment and the gradual expansion of our group over the years! The other co-organiser, Keh Han Not a great shot but I rather like this, it’s like some anime scene before a huge battle (can’t get that outta my mind) Akio speaks! Leslie taking the stage before…… Getting Jerry to sing.
He speaks. And speaks. Before Leslie got so fed up and told him to sing directly, instead of giving some long Oscar speech. Yes Leslie, I still remember “This Jerry talks too much! I ask you to sing, not give some long story about how you join the group!” Poor Jerry, pulled an epic stunt of X-ing the Kanji he couldn’t pronounce hehe Jerry, your enthralled audience! Akio’s spotlight Leslie looks drunk Jerry is trying to get drunk, and he succeeds in portraying an oji-san image. Now for group Karaoke! Ochiai looks so happy! Taku-san playing Peekaboo Now for the toasting ceremony! Everyone has got your drink ready? Don’t drink yet Taku-san! Your drink may not last till the end of the Kanpai! He gets it :P Now let’s go, KANNNNNNNNNNN~~ PAI! For those interested in the venue
